Cops: Troy bank robber uses note to get cash

The Detroit News

Police are looking for help in identifying a man who was caught on camera robbing a Troy bank Monday morning.

Police are looking for a man who robbed a Citizens Bank in Troy on April 23.

The bank robbery took place at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Citizens Bank, on the 750 block of East Big Beaver. Troy police said in a statement that the suspect, a “thin, light-skinned black male with sunken cheeks” approaches a woman teller. Video of the incident shows the suspect hand the teller a note demanding money, being given a small amount of cash, along with the note, and then leaving on foot.

The suspect is described as about 40 years old and average height. He wore a black skull cap and did not cover his face. Police also believe the man has “buck teeth and possibly some silver teeth.”

No weapons were visible during the incident, police say, and no one was hurt. While the suspect was spotted walking in and walking out, there is no vehicle he was seen entering or exiting.

Police are asking that anyone with information that can lead to an arrest to call (248) 524-3477. Tipsters who prefer anonymity can call (248) 524-0777. Police advise that people who spot the suspect call the authorities rather than approach him.
