Ex-felon charged in Pontiac CVS robbery
An ex-felon has been charged for allegedly robbing a CVS Pharmacy in Pontiac last weekend.
Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the store in the 60 block of East Walton Boulevard at about 9:50 p.m. Sunday.
The cashier reported the man had requested change for a dollar bill, but when she opened the cash drawer, he reached in, swiped $147 then fled in a car, investigators said.
Deputies found the car matching the description parked near High Street and Sheffield; the suspect and a 20-year-old female passenger were inside.
The cashier identified the driver as the thief.
Eddie Junior Owens was arrested and transported to a sheriff’s substation for questioning.
The 43-year-old, who has previous convictions and once escaped from prison, was arraigned Tuesday at 50th District Court in Pontiac for unarmed robbery, a 15-year felony, sheriff’s officials said.
Judge Ronda Fowlkes Gross set bond at $50,000. Owens’ next court date is scheduled for Aug. 10.
