Body found in Rochester Hills ditch ID’d
A man whose body was found in a ditch in Rochester Hills has been identified as Christopher Morgan, 22, of Rochester Hills.
Morgan was struck by a car shortly after after getting into an argument with his girlfriend Saturday night and exiting their car on Avon Road, said the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver of the car that struck Morgan on Avon didn’t stop but deputies, acting on a tip, discovered a black Ford Fusion with substantial damage to its front left side at a Red Roof Inn in Orion Township.
They interviewed the driver, who told them she believed she had hit a deer. The driver, whose name wasn’t released, wasn’t in custody.
Once the investigation is over, the Sheriff’s Office will present its findings to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.
Morgan had attended a graduation party Saturday night and left in a vehicle with his girlfriend, brother and another woman, said the Sheriff’s Office. After arguing with his girlfriend at 10:45 p.m., he jumped out of the car at a traffic light at Avon and Adams Road. He then walked eastbound on Avon.
Morgan was struck by the car sometime after 11 p.m. on Avon between Adams and Crooks, said the Sheriff’s Office.
When he failed to return home, family members began looking for him and found him in the ditch Sunday at 11:30 a.m. After emergency workers responded, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
