Novi man charged in strangulation death of his wife
A Novi man was arraigned Monday for allegedly strangling his wife during a domestic fight.
Derrick Anthony Dixon, 31, was charged with first degree murder in the death of Heather Alyce Dixon, 32, said police. The couple have three children.
Novi police didn’t divulge the specific reason for the fight.
Dixon is scheduled to appear in Novi District Court on Jan. 17. First degree murder is punishable by up to life in prison.
Police discovered Heather Dixon’s body Thursday on the floor of the couple’s home at the Oakland Glens mobile home park in the 29000 block of Pierre Drive. Also in the home was Derrick Dixon, who was taken into custody.
Police were doing a welfare check at the home after they were contacted by Derrick Dixon’s mother, who said she had knocked on the door and didn’t get a response.
Police said they don’t believe the children were home when Dixon was killed. The children are being cared for by relatives.
