Oakland County Sheriff’s officials have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old Pontiac man.

Deputies were dispatched to Murphy Park on Martin Luther King Boulevard at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday for reports of a gunshot victim lying face down under a pavilion, investigators said in a statement.

The man appeared to have been shot in the back of the head. His name has not been released.

Sheriff’s officials soon identified the alleged gunman and tracked him to the 50 block of Gladstone Place. A SWAT team apprehended the 25-year-old man there.

The suspect was being held at the Oakland County Jail pending charges, sheriff’s officials said. Arraignment details were not immediately available.
