Girl, 6, drowns at Bloomfield Twp. home
Bloomfield Township — A 6-year-old girl drowned Thursday after entering a relative’s pool, township police said.
Officers and paramedics were called at about 8:50 p.m. to a home on the 1700 block of Morningside Way. There, they found relatives performing CPR on the child, who was the homeowner’s granddaughter, investigators reported.
“Initial findings suggest the girl entered the indoor pool area of the home and was alone when she went into the water,” authorities wrote in a statement Friday. “It is unknown how long she was in the pool before she was discovered.”
The girl was rushed to St. Joseph Mercy Oakland hospital in Pontiac but efforts to revive her were unsuccessful, according to the release.
Other details about the case were not released Friday.
The Bloomfield Township Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
