A Rochester Hills man is facing charges after telling Oakland County Sheriff’s officials that he fatally shot his wife early Monday.

Deputies were called to a home in the 3400 block of Emmons Avenue after a man found his sister-in-law dead on a blood-covered couch at about 10 a.m., investigators said in a statement.

“The caller further advised his sister-in-law and her husband are currently going through a bad divorce,” the release said.

The 41-year-old woman appeared to have been shot and was pronounced dead, sheriff’s officials said. An autopsy was pending.

While detectives were at the scene, her husband went to the city sheriff’s substation “and told the front desk deputy that he just killed his wife,” authorities said.

The 39-year-old man was arrested without incident. He remained in the Oakland County Jail.
