Police: Troy woman drowns while searching for dog
A 61-year-old Troy woman, who police believe left her home sometime Wednesday night to find her lost dog, was found dead Thursday morning in a lake in her subdivision.
The woman's body was found just before 7:45 a.m., said Sgt. Meghan Lehman of the Troy Police Department. This was in the Emerald Lakes subdivision, off East Square Lake. She sent a text message around the time she left her house around 11 p.m. that she was looking for her lost dog, police said.
Police believe her death was an accidental drowning. The woman lived in the subdivision.
The dog had returned home, Lehman said.
