Ferndale robbers stopped by good Samaritan


A Ferndale man was being beaten and robbed at gunpoint before a good Samaritan stopped the attack Monday, police said.
Ferndale police received a 911 call at 9 p.m. Monday about a robbery of a male who was walking through the Ferndale Foods parking lot on West Nine Mile Road.
The victim said hewas approached by two men in dark clothing with a handgun. One of the suspects began punching the him until he fell to the ground, police said. They were going through his pockets when a passerby drove his vehicle toward the men, causing the suspects to run into the neighborhood.
The two suspects, Darryl Ash, 19, and Julius Hunter, 17, both of Detroit, were arraigned in 43rd District Court. Bond is $50,000 each for both. The next court hearing is 1 p.m. May 3.
