Bloomfield Township police are investigating after a 17-year-old was stabbed, punched and robbed late Monday night.

The Memorial Day attack took place just before 9:30 p.m. on the 1200 block of Ward, which is north of Square Lake and west of Telegraph, police said in a statement.

The 17-year-old victim was riding his bike northbound on Ward, but a pedestrian stepped in front of the victim and demanded his wallet, backpack and bike.

The victim and the suspect struggled, during which the victim was stabbed twice, punched, and had his life threatened "several times." But he was able to get away and reach someone who called 911.

Police describe the suspect as a black male in his mid-20s, 6 feet 2 to 6 feet 4 inches tall. He wore a white hoodie with black drawstrings, black Adidas pants, a purple bandanna and black Nike shoes. He was last spotted riding the victim's bike southbound on Ward.
