A "police situation" in Northville Township has caused police to evacuate a Meijer at Eight Mile and Haggerty.

Officials have reopened both Eight Mile and Haggerty roads. They had closed them while the store was evacuated and police investigated.

Two staffers for Northville's department of public safety declined to elaborate beyond what the township wrote in a tweet announcing the evacuation and closure.

The Michigan State Police Bomb Squad is assisting Northville Twp. police at the scene. A "device" was found at the shopping plaza at Eight Mile and Haggerty, state police said.
