1 arrested in woman's assault in Pontiac

A 33-year-old man is facing charges in an assault and stabbing in Pontiac, Oakland County Sheriff's officials said Thursday.
A resident called 911 about 10 p.m. Wednesday after a witness approached to tell him about a domestic violence situation involving a gun at a nearby apartment, investigators said in a statement.
Deputies checked a unit in the 30 block of Rosshire Court. They found a 36-year-old woman unconscious with severe trauma to her head and face, according to the release.
She had stab wounds from a box cutter and injuries from a beating, authorities said.
The woman briefly regained consciousness and identified a suspect, a Waterford Township resident.
Officials arrested the 33-year-old at his apartment. He was held at the Oakland County Jail.
The woman was listed in critical but stable condition Thursday, the Sheriff's Office said.
