Man gunned down in Pontiac's 10th homicide of year
A 30-year-old Pontiac man was found fatally shot Sunday morning inside a vehicle in his driveway, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said.
Police believe the homicide actually took place Saturday, because the victim's neighbor reported hearing a gunshot at about 11:30 p.m. and saw someone running from the vehicle, which was parked on the 900 block of Kettering. That's south of North Perry.
After the neighbor was unable to reach the victim's family, they called police, who arrived to find the victim "obviously deceased," a bullet hole in the driver's side front window, and a spent shell casing on the ground near the vehicle.
There is no suspect description and there are no known circumstances of the shooting.
The homicide on Kettering is the 10th of the year in Pontiac compared to five for all of last year, said Lt. Steven Troy of the Oakland County Sheriff's Office,
Troy said that while some of the homicides have been of a domestic nature, most have been drug-related.
Four people were killed in January, one in February, one in March, two in May, one in June and one in July, Troy said.
