9-year-old pedestrian struck by car in Pontiac
A 9-year-old girl was injured Thursday after being struck by a car in a Pontiac neighborhood, Oakland County Sheriff's officials said.
The child tried to run across Auburn Avenue near Carriage Circle about 7 p.m. when an eastbound 2009 Dodge Avenger hit her, knocking the girl to the pavement, investigators said in a statement.
Paramedics transported the youth to the city's McLaren Oakland medical center, but she was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak due to the extent of her injuries, according to the release.
She was listed in stable condition Friday.
The Dodge driver, a 48-year-old Pontiac resident, stopped at the scene and is cooperating with sheriff's deputies.
Authorities do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
