Michigan State Police are seeking the driver of a vehicle that hit a 26-year-old man Sunday morning in Hazel Park.

The incident took place about 4:20 a.m. on northbound Interstate 75 at Meyers, between Eight and Nine Mile roads on I-75.

The victim, police say, was examining his motorcycle with his back to the road. A black vehicle, which police believe may be a Pontiac Grand Prix, hit him and left the scene of the crash.

Police believe the vehicle would have suffered damage to the front wheel well as a result. A wheel flare from the vehicle broke off at the crash site. Police believe the driver may attempt to hide the vehicle.

The victim will need "multiple surgeries," police said.

Anyone aware of a black vehicle matching the description, which has front end damage, to call (248) 584-5740.
