Troy —  A woman's last day of work at a home health care company ended with her arrest after she allegedly stabbed a human resources employee with a pen.

Officers responded to a call at Custom Home Health Care at 1:30 p.m. on July 3 where they spoke with a human resources employee who said she suffered a puncture wound on her left arm.

The victim told police she was meeting with Sakyra Keyona Ellis, who was resigning from the company and turning in her equipment. When Ellis turned in a broken computer tablet, she was told she would have to pay $500 for it to be fixed per company policy, the victim told police.

The suspect became enraged and attacked the victim, police said, putting her into a chokehold and stabbing her with the pen.

The suspect fled the business prior to the officers’ arrival, driving away in a black 2016 Nissan Altima. Other officers located the car on Interstate 75 near 14 Mile. A traffic stop was initiated and the suspect was arrested, police said.

Ellis, 28, of Redford Township was charged with assault and battery. She was released on a $250 personal bond after her arraignment on July 6.

The pen penetrated the victim's skin and caused a minor injury but the victim did not need medical treatment, police said.
