Police have recovered the body of a 55-year-old man who drowned in White Lake Sunday, officials said Tuesday.

Members of the Oakland County Sheriff's Dive Rescue Team found the man's body at about 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to authorities. The body was found in 25 feet of water.

The victim, a Hartland resident, entered the water at about 3 p.m. Sunday on the south end of White Lake and was swimming from an unanchored vessel, the sheriff's office said.

Officials said 10-15 minutes later, people who were on the same vessel were unable to locate the man and called police.

Authorities searched for the man Sunday and Monday until inclement weather forced them to halt the effort. They resumed the search early Tuesday morning, they said.
