Authorities are offering a $1,000 reward for tips to find three people wanted for stealing a computer hard drive with customer information at an AT&T store in Independence Township.

A suspect approached the counter of a business in the 6300 block of Sashabaw about 6 p.m. Friday, "cut the cord from the cash register with a knife and left with the hard drive portion," Oakland County Sheriff's officials said in a statement.

The drive contained customer information, but AT&T has security measures that prevents the thieves from accessing it, according to the release.

Sheriff's deputies set up a perimeter and searched the area with a K-9 unit but failed to find them.

Investigators believe all three suspects are men in their 20s.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAKUP.
