State officials have suspended the license for an Oakland County adult foster care home after a raid found drugs and weapons at the facility.

The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs order alleges multiple violations of the state Adult Foster Care Facility Licensing Act at the Carter Country Homes in Holly.

The site was where Oakland County Narcotic Enforcement Team executed a search warrant this month after an investigation into a cocaine delivery involving its leaders, Angela and Russell Cockerham, authorities reported at the time.

Officers found cash, cocaine; MDMA, known by the street name of "Molly," marijuana, marijuana wax, 16 morphine pills, firearms and packaging material associated with drug trafficking, according to the Sheriff's Office.

During a surprise inspection, Angela Cockerham said her son and daughter resided at the facility, which is licensed for up to six people, but failed to alert the state within five days as required, authorities allege.

State officials also learned that some facility residents told county sheriff’s officials that Russell Cockerham smoked marijuana onsite and drug sales throughout the night frequently interrupted their sleep. He is not listed as the licensee or owner.

The property also was missing a deck railing, another violation along with failing to provide a safe environment for residents, LARA found.

The summary suspension was effective at 6 p.m. Friday, meaning Angela Cockerham cannot operate any adult foster care small group home or provide related services.

An administrative hearing is planned and Cockerham can appeal.

Meanwhile, Russell Cockerham, was arraigned in Novi's 52-1 District Court on charges including possession with intent to deliver cocaine and felon in possession of a firearm.

The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office also charged Angela Cockerham with one count of cocaine possession. She initially failed to appear for a court appearance but turned herself in on Aug. 8, county officials said.
