Michigan State Police officials said troopers are investigating a car crash at Grange Hall and Hess roads in Holly Township.

Michigan State Police troopers are investigating a Tuesday morning crash in Holly Township, officials said.

The crash happened at about 7:30 a.m. on Grange Hall and Hess roads near Interstate 75, according to state police.

A preliminary investigation showed a 2010 Chevrolet Impala that was traveling east on Grange Hall crossed the center line of the road and into the travel lane of a  garbage truck, resulting in a head-on collision, officials said. It's possible the driver fell asleep, police said.

The Impala's driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and is expected to recover, police said. The garbage truck's driver sustained minor injuries, they added.
