A Flint-area man was killed Thursday when his pickup truck went left of center on an Oakland County road and collided head-on with a gravel hauler, authorities said.

The pickup driver, a 26-year-old Burton resident, was westbound on Oakwood Road near Hadley Road at 5:19 a.m. when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck the eastbound gravel hauler, which was driven by a 43-year-old Oxford Township man, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

The pickup driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries. The sheriff's office said the driver of the gravel truck was wearing a seat belt; it was unclear if the pickup driver was belted.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
