1 dead, 1 hurt in suspected attempted murder, suicide
Madison Heights police said they are investigating what appears to be an attempted murder and subsequent suicide following a barricaded individual situation Tuesday night.
Authorities received a 911 call at about 8:43 p.m. about an incident in the 27000 block of Park Court near East 11 Mile and Dequindre roads. The caller reported a man on a home's porch who was bleeding profusely, police said.
Officers arrived and found the man, who had sustained injuries to his neck. Paramedics transported the man to a hospital for treatment. Police said they do not have information on the man's condition, but he underwent surgery Tuesday night.
According to a preliminary investigation, the man was attacked by a 27-year-old man who also lived at the house, officials said.
Police contacted the man but he refused to come out of the house, they said.
After hours of negotiating with the suspect, officers with the Oakland County Sheriff's SWAT Unit entered the home and found the man deceased, police said. Officials said it appears the suspect took his own life.
Officials said they are not releasing the names of the victim or the deceased until their families have been notified.
