Pontiac — A 27-year-old Pontiac man was fatally stabbed late Sunday night, and the Oakland County Sheriff's Office has taken the victim's girlfriend into custody.

The stabbing took place at about 11:20 p.m. at a home on the 400 block of West Fairmount, which is east of Telegraph.

Police responded to a 911 call about an unresponsive male and found the suspect, a 29-year-old Pontiac woman, on the front porch.

Deputies administered CPR to the victim, and paramedics arrived and tried to use an automated external defibrillator.

When the victim's shirt was removed, there were "two obvious stab wounds" to the man's chest, authorities said.

Medics were ultimately unable to revive the victim, who died from his injuries.

Police took the suspect into custody and recovered a kitchen knife thought to be the weapon used in the stabbing.

Police expect the suspect to be arraigned Tuesday.
