Pontiac — A Pontiac woman had to euthanize her dog after he was shot by a burglar Monday night, authorities said.

Oakland County sheriff's deputies responded at 10:25 p.m. to reports of a home invasion on the 300 block of West Yale Avenue. The victim said three men broke into her home armed with guns and wearing masks.

The victim told deputies one of the suspects said to her, "Where’s it at?"  The victim said two of the men stayed in the front room with her while the third went down the hall to her bedroom.

The homeowner had a large Great Dane that appeared to have scared one of the suspects, who shot the animal once.

The two suspects in the front room ran out the front door, while the third man pushed out the air conditioning unit in the woman's bedroom and climbed out of the window, deputies said.

The homeowner was not injured. She took her Great Dane to a 24-hour emergency veterinary clinic, where he was euthanized due to his injuries.

There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
