Classes at Berkley High School have been dismissed for the day Wednesday due to a natural gas leak, school district officials said.

Officials said the leak was detected Wednesday afternoon in the high school's courtyard.

Consumers Energy recommended the school send all students and staff home for the day while crews investigate the leak, according to an email district officials sent to parents.

All evening activities at the building, located on Catalpa Drive near Coolidge Highway, have also been canceled, they said.
