Southbound Interstate 75 has reopened at 14 Mile in Troy after a downed power line closed all of its lanes, officials said.

The northbound lanes of the freeway at 12 Mile in Madison Heights also reopened after they were shut down because of downed wires, according to the Michigan State Police.

Traffic was backed up on the freeway and motorists were asked to avoid it.

Michigan Department of Transportation officials said they received reports of the downed wires at about 1:37 p.m.

DTE Energy reports about 925 customers in the area are without power due to an equipment problem. The company said it expects to have power restored by 4:45 p.m.
