Ferndale police are asking the public for help to identify a man who left hundreds of screws in two parking lots that damaged the tires of three cars, officials said.

Police said the man left the screws in the entry way and exit of the parking lot for the Ferndale Police Department's building on the south side of Nine Mile near Woodward.

He also left screws in the parking lot of the district court house as well as the alley behind it, Ferndale Police Sgt. Baron Brown said. The court house is across the street from the police station on the north side of Nine Mile.

The screws were discovered about mid-morning Monday, he said. However, the screws damaged tires on a police scout car, the car of a district court employee and an elderly woman who had come to conduct some business with the city, Brown said.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the incident should call the Ferndale Police at (248) 541-3650 or Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
