Pontiac — Oakland County sheriff's deputies arrested an armed robber in Pontiac late Saturday night.

The alleged armed robbery took place about 11:35 p.m. on the 100 block of Ridgemont, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. That's north of North Perry and east of Joslyn.

A 29-year-old woman told police that after parking in the lot of her apartment complex, a man approached, gun drawn, and said: "Give me your purse or I will kill you."

The victim complied, and the suspect fled on foot, police said. The victim ran home and told her boyfriend, who called police.

Deputies established a perimeter at the apartment complex, and a K-9 unit tracked the suspect to an apartment.

Police made contact with the owner, who gave her consent for police to enter the apartment, and found the suspect in an upstairs bathroom.

There they found the victim's purse. Among its contents: the victim's cell phone.

Police also recovered the gun believed to have been used in the robbery, and transported the 26-year-old suspect to Oakland County Jail, where he awaits criminal charges.
