Pontiac girl, 15, arrested for shooting gun from SUV

Pontiac — A 15-year-old girl is accused of firing a gun from an SUV after a fight Saturday night in Pontiac, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday to the area of Stonegate East and Lewa Downs on a report of people fighting, officials said. Witnesses told deputies a female was firing a handgun from a silver Jeep SUV. They also told them the shooting was in retaliation for an earlier incident, officials said.

Police were unable to locate a victim at the scene and the vehicle had fled.

Later, deputies spotted a vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses speeding south on Cesar Chavez near Johnson.

They detained all five of its occupants, authorities said. They identified the four males, ages 17-19 from Pontiac, and a 15-year-old female from Pontiac who were in the vehicle.

The girl confessed to deputies she fired he weapon and told them the gun was still in the SUV, police said. Deputies searched the vehicle and recovered a 40. caliber handgun.

Police impounded the vehicle and transported the four males to the station for further investigation. The males were later released, but the girl the remains lodged at the county's juvenile detention center, pending a criminal hearing, officials said.
