Southfield — Eastbound Interstate 696 at Greenfield Road in Southfield has reopened after a crash, officials said.

Michigan State Police officials said the freeway reopened at about 2:45 p.m. The freeway closed for about six hours after a semi-truck overturned, they said.

Earlier in the day, Southfield police officials said the crash resulted int steel coils and fuel being spilled on the pavement. They urged motorists to avoid the area. To enable crews to clean up the scene, the freeway and Greenfield Road on-ramp to I-696 were closed.
