Police investigate death, fire at Waterford home as homicide

Waterford Township — The death of a woman whose body was found Tuesday in a home after a fire is being investigated as a homicide, officials said.

Police have not yet identified the woman, who was in her 50s.

Waterford Township police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found Tuesday after a fire at this house.

Officials said they are treating the case as a homicide and are asking the public for help to identify a man wanted for questioning.

Witnesses reported seeing the man at the home, located at 40 North Lynn near West Huron and Telegraph, several times and he was seen there twice on the day of the fire, once at 5 p.m. and again at 10:30 p.m., authorities said.

The man is described as 25-30-years-old with a long face and long nose and short hair, according to witnesses. They also told police they had seen the man at the home before, driving a white, older model minivan.

Police said the man cut the home's lawn several times and may provide lawn care to other people in the area, according to the witnesses.
