Drunken Detroit woman arrested in Royal Oak Twp. after walking in street with baby

Royal Oak Township —  A Detroit woman was arrested Wednesday by Michigan State Police after allegedly being drunk and walking in the street with a baby, officials said.

Troopers were called to Republic Avenue for a report of an intoxicated woman, they said. They arrived and found a 20-year-old woman walking in the street with a baby. 

Police said the woman became combative towards the troopers and they arrested her. She was taken to the Oakland County Jail while the county prosecutor's reviews a request for charges.

The troopers turned the four-month-old over to her grandfather and notified Child Protective Services of the incident, according to authorities.

No injuries were reported.
