A 76-year-old Bloomfield Hills man died after his vehicle collided with a dump truck Tuesday in Bloomfield Township, police said.

A preliminary investigation found that a 2008 Mercedes-Benz traveling south on Wabeek Lake Drive at about 10:40 a.m. failed to yield to a Peterbilt dump truck driving west on Long Lake.

The collision rolled the truck on its side, striking a nearby electrical pole, according to the release.

Police are seeking witnesses to the crash.

Both drivers were transported to an area hospital. The Mercedes driver, identified as a Bloomfield Hills man, was pronounced dead. The 51-year-old truck driver was treated and released, police said.

Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. Bloomfield Township police are continuing to investigate and ask any witnesses to call the Traffic Investigations Unit at (248) 433-7749.
