A Royal Oak man has been arrested after allegedly sending bomb threats to nine churches in the city on Friday, police reported.

The houses of worship reported receiving the emailed threats between 12:28 p.m. and 2:53 p.m. and immediately called police, city officials said in a statement.

According to the release, those targeted were: First Congregational Church, St. Mary Catholic Church, Calvary Christian Church, Unity of Royal Oak, Central Oaks Community Church, Royal Oak First Methodist Church, Woodside Bible Church, Starr Presbyterian Church and St. John's Episcopal Church.

Royal Oak officers and detectives worked with the FBI to find the suspect. Within hours, their investigation led to the arrest of a 33-year-old city resident, authorities said.

Other details in the case were not released Friday. A probe is ongoing.
