Rose Township — A 40-year-old Flint man is dead after his vehicle crashed head-on into a car Thursday morning, officials said.

Michigan State Police said troopers were called at about 7:25 a.m. to an area on Hickory Ridge Road between Pellett Drive and Sackner Road in Rose Township to respond to a two-car crash.

According to a preliminary investigation, the Flint man was traveling north on Hickory Ridge in a Chevrolet Malibu when he lost control of his car and crossed over the center line into the path of a Buick, police said.

The driver of the Malibu was not wearing his seat belt, they also said.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to a hospital. The Malibu's driver was pronounced dead at the hospital and the other driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to the state police.

Authorities continue to investigate.
