Police: Westland woman fires shots at husband’s girlfriend, apparently commits suicide
Westland — An argument that escalated into shots fired culminated in the apparent suicide of an unidentified woman Wednesday night.
According to the Westland Police Department, officers were called to the London Town Houses development, in the 29000 block of Manchester, after receiving reports of shots being fired.
Police learned that a woman living in the townhouse had been confronted by her boyfriend’s soon to be ex-wife. The married woman fired several shots at the girlfriend who was able to escape without injury.
The shooter remained in the home and neighbors told police they heard several more shots inside the building. Arriving police treated the situation as a barricaded gunman scenario, bringing in a SWAT team to the location.
After several hours SWAT officers entered the home and discovered the body of the woman who had shot at her husband’s girlfriend. According to police the woman had died of a self inflicted gunshot wound.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
