Motorist arrested after police pursuit ends in crash in Detroit
Detroit — One person was arrested after a police pursuit ended with the suspect crashing into a utility pole early Tuesday morning on the city’s east side.
Grosse Pointe police in an unmarked car were following a red Jeep Cherokee that was traveling on Munich, near Chatsworth.
“The Grosse Pointe police ran the plate and discovered that the Jeep was stolen out of Roseville,” Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody said. “The Jeep took off at a high rate of speed just before a DPD car attempted to pull them over. Grosse Pointe police followed as well as a DPD unit.”
It was about then that the driver of the Jeep lost control and crashed into a utility pole on Houston/Whittier near Kelly Road.
“The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was captured without incident,” Woody said. “There were no injuries in the incident. The suspect was turned over to Grosse Pointe for processing.”
