Southgate police seek missing 13-year-old girl who may be runaway

Police are looking for a 13-year-old girl they believe ran away from home earlier this week.

Carole Joy Shaeffer was last seen at her home in the 14000 block of Windermere between 9 p.m and 11 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Police said friends reported that Carole made statements about running away. She also packed some of her belongings, said Det. Sgt. Matthew Flynn with the Southgate Police.

Carole is 5-foot-3 inches tall, and weighs 130 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a navy blue Aeropostale hoodie, dark yoga style pants and Vans tennis shoes.
