Car chase winds through Warren, Detroit before 2 arrested
Two people are in custody after allegedly stealing a car from Clinton Township and leading police on a chase into Detroit on Wednesday night.
A Chevy Cruze was reported stolen from a closed bowling alley on Groesbeck, south of 15 Mile, said Clinton Township Police Lt. Matt Gerling.
Police sent out an alert to other agencies in nearby communities. Warren officers who spotted the car near Eight Mile and Groesbeck tried to pull it over, but the driver sped off, Police Lt. Dan Novak said.
The pursuit wound into Detroit’s east side, where the suspects stopped after three of the car’s tires were blown out and officers surrounded them in the 7600 block of Robinwood about 10:30 p.m., Novak said.
The pair — a 58-year-old from Detroit and a 38-year old from Clinton Township — were arrested and held in Warren. They’re expected to be arraigned as early as Thursday on charges including fleeing and eluding police, possessing a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest, Novak said.
