Detroit flight evacuated due to smoke
A flight was evacuated Monday at Detroit Metropolitan Airport after crew members noticed smoke in the cabin, officials said.
Endeavor Flight 4103, operating as Delta Connection, to Cincinnati was pushing away from the gate about 5:49 p.m. when the smoke was detected, said Kate Modolo, an airline spokeswoman.
As a precaution, the plane on the taxiway was evacuated, she said. The 49 passengers were bused back to the terminal and accommodated on another flight, Modolo said.
An airport fire crew responded and found no evidence of a blaze but reported a smoky odor, spokesman Mike Conway said. Authorities are investigating what caused the smoke, Modolo said.
The smoke concerns and evacuation didn’t affect any other flights, Conway added.
