A raid at a “chop shop” on Detroit’s west side resulted in three arrests and the recovery of four stolen vehicles, police said.

“Thanks to multiple citizens’ tips and the hard work of the men and women assigned to the (Detroit Police Department’s) Commercial Auto Theft Section, an illegal auto operation had been shut down,” Sgt. Eren Stephens said.

The raid was executed about 5:30 p.m. at a collision shop/salvage yard company in the 8500 block of West Chicago, Stephens said.

Besides the recovered vehicles and three males arrested, “multiple doors and hoods were confiscated,” she said.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional tips is asked to call 1-800-242-HEAT (4328).
