1 dead, 1 injured in Detroit drive-by shooting

Detroit — One person is dead and another in temporary serious condition after a drive-by shooting early Monday morning on the city’s west side.

According to police, the incident occurred at about 1 a.m. in the area of Grand River and Livernois and involved three people riding in a car.

“Victim number one was a 26-year-old female who was shot in the head and died at the scene,” Sgt. Michael Woody said. “Victim number two was a 27-year-old male who was shot in the right shoulder. He was taken to Henry Ford Hospital.”

According to police, the vehicle, a tan Pontiac Bonneville, was driving in the area with a 24-year-old female behind the wheel. At one point, an unknown vehicle pulled alongside and fired multiple shots into the Bonneville.

The woman drove to the area of Livernois and Grand River where she observed an EMS unit and asked for help.
