Detroit — The motorcade for first lady Michelle Obama produced a bit of drama Friday afternoon when a Detroit police motorcycle officer riding escort took a spill on Interstate 94.

Michigan State Police Lt. Michael Shaw confirmed the incident, which occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on I-94 at Harper Avenue. According to the State Police, there were no injuries in the crash, but a witness reported that the motorcycle received extensive damages.

The first lady paid a visit to the city to speak at the Detroit Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts on behalf of Gary Peters and Mark Schauer, who are running for U.S. Senate and governor respectively.
