A boyfriend arrested in the strangulation death of a Westland mother of four was arraigned Sunday on charges related to her murder.

Jaime Allen Pearson, 38, of Westland, is charged with open murder in the death of Rachel Watson, 30. He remains jailed following the appearance in 34th District Court in Romulus. A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. on Nov. 6.

Police found Watson’s body in her home in the 34800 block of Avondale during a wellness check. Coworkers became concerned when she did not show up for work. The single mother and had been a nurse for six years, most recently at Heartland Health Care Center in Ann Arbor.

An investigation by Westland police led to the arrest of Pearson. It is alleged that he strangled her to death. Published reports claim he was upset when she tried to end their relationship.
