Man being evaluated after jumping in Detroit River

Detroit — A man is at a hospital for a psychological evaluation after jumping into the Detroit River near the RiverWalk on Sunday afternoon, police said.

Police say the man in his 30s jumped in about 12:20 p.m., then used a ladder to climb out near Riopelle. He began to run but was detained by the police and transported to the hospital for a mental and physical evaluation, police said.
