- Police looking for shooter with dreadlocks
Detroit — Police are still searching for a suspect in the shooting death of a 19-year-old man early Saturday after an argument outside a downtown bar.
The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the deceased as Kurtis Goobman, who lived on the city’s west side. He was shot in the right side of his head about 1:55 a.m. at the Executive Cigar Bar, 110 Cadillac Square.
Police say Goobman and his friend were getting into a vehicle after an argument with five men. One of the five men began firing gun shots at the two men. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“We are still looking for the shooter,” said Sgt. Michael Woody, a police spokesman. “Our understanding is that these two individuals had crossed paths and an argument ensued. We are not sure if they knew each other prior.”
The victim’s friend returned fire at the suspects who fled the scene in an unknown vehicle, police said.
The shooting suspect is described as having long dreadlocks.
Woody said a number of witnesses have come forward and “we’re asking them to keep coming forward.”
