Detroit woman charged in beating death

Livonia – — The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a 50-year-old Detroit woman in the fatal beating of another woman, the prosecutor’s office announced Monday.

Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Tewana E. Sullivan with the beating death of a 66-year-old woman at an apartment building in the 19500 block of Purlingbrook around 10:13 p.m. Oct. 22.

The prosecutor’s office said Sullivan was visiting a relative in the apartment building when she beat the other woman. Police were called and discovered the body of the unconscious woman and took her to a nearby hospital. The woman died Saturday.

No further details on the attack were released.

Sullivan was arrested at the scene. She was charged Friday with one count of assault with intent to murder. She is being held in the Wayne County Jail. Her preliminary examination had been scheduled for 9 a.m. Nov. 6 in 16th District Court on first degree murder charges.
