Suspect arrested in Grosse Pointe Woods bank robbery

Grosse Pointe Woods — A suspect who robbed a Flagstar bank early Monday morning didn’t get far before he was captured by police.

According to the Grosse Pointe Woods Department of Public Safety, the unidentified suspect entered the bank and passed a note to the teller announcing a robbery.

He was given an undisclosed amount of cash which he placed in a black tote backpack before fleeing onto Mack Avenue. The robber then fled southbound on Mack and then west on Littlestone.

The suspect was chased on foot by police and was arrested after attempting to hide in a garage.

According to police, all the money has been recovered and the FBI has been brought in to help in the investigation.

The Flagstaff bank is located in the 19700 block of Mack, near Cook, and just a short distance from the police department.
