Detroit — A 19-year-old woman has been arraigned in the Sunday beating death of her one-year-old daughter.

Sierra Nicole Tankersley was arraigned Thursday morning in 36th District Court before Magistrate Renee McDuffie on felony murder and first-degree child abuse in the death of her daughter, Malayh Tankersley.

Tankersley, who entered a plea of not guilt, was remanded without bond to the Wayne County Jail.

First responders were called to Tankersley’s home in the 9600 block of Brace at about noon Sunday, when police found the toddler unresponsive on the floor.

She was rushed to a local hospital where she soon died from blunt force trauma, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

Tankersley’s other daughter, 2, was taken by authorities from the home the same day.

A preliminary examination for Tankersley is slated for 1:30 p.m. Nov. 18.
