4 arrested after Detroit robbery, shooting at cops

Four people were arrested Wednesday night after allegedly robbing a gas station on the Detroit’s west side and shooting at police.

Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in progress at a gas station near Seven Mile and Grand River, said Sgt. Eren Stephens of the Detroit Police Department. Two men, ages 36 and 23, said they were robbed by four males about 9:15 p.m., she said.

When officers arrived, the suspects fled on foot and into nearby Redford Township, Stephens said. There, they allegedly fired shots at the officers, but none were struck, she said.

Michigan State Police assisted with the arrests. A weapon also was recovered.
